|Sandglass Theater will present this season’s final performance in the Winter Sunshine Series on March 31st at 11 am and 2 pm. Ines Zeller Bass will warm the Sandglass stage with two performances of her acclaimed children’s show Isidor’s Cheek. This is a celebration of her last performance of this beloved work before she passes it on to her daughter, Jana Zeller.
Young children and their families will be delighted by Zeller Bass’ award winning piece Isidor’s Cheek. Inspired by a character in a German children’s book, Isidor is forced out of a grey existence when his cheek runs away and he must search around the world to find it, entering a land of color and beauty, loneliness and danger.
“Isidor’s Cheek was created 21 years ago, but Isidor will keep on traveling into the future under new caring hands. It will be my joy and delight to sing for him and accompany him around his tiny world once more and for the last time. See you down the road, Isidor!”
– Ines Zeller Bass
My 4-1/2 year old daughter Laura dictates: “Isidor’s cheek, I really want to go to your show again because I like your show better than any show. And I really want to just see the show again because it’s so amazing. I like the show so much because I like how Isidor acts.”
– Barbara Cohen,
“This (Isidor’s Cheek) is a remarkable show, in design, concept, and performance. A story told with miniature figures on a rotating stage captivated the audience from the very start. Ines Zeller Bass is a magical performer who, although performing a show geared for children, easily sparks the imagination and playfulness of an audience made up of seasoned puppeteers as well.”
– Reay Kaplan, The Puppetry Journal
