Eric Bass, Co-Founder of Sandglass Theater, recently wrote to Senator John McCain (R-AZ) to invite him to Vermont for the ninth edition of the Puppets in the Green Mountains Festival, to take place September 11-20, 2015.
Dear Senator McCain,
On behalf of Sandglass Theater, let me extend an official invitation to you to be our guest at the Puppets in the Green Mountains Festival in September. The festival will feature performers from around the country, as well as from Germany, Quebec, Mexico, England, and Cuba. Our theme is Walking to the Borders, and all of the performances address, in some way, issues of “otherness” or exclusion, whether the specific subject is immigration, race, gender, or ethnic marginalization. During our festival, many of the artists will be interviewed in a “talk show” forum, along with colleagues working in the areas that their shows address. It should be an engaging series of events, and your voice and presence would be welcome.
We would do our best to host you, and to give you every opportunity to talk firsthand with these artists from the international field of Puppet Theater. This would surely be a rare opportunity for you to see and experience this form of theater at work in a community.
