Sandglass Theater is sad to report the passing of our dear friend, mentor, and supporter, Bill Menezes. During Bill’s long tenure as Director of the Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College, he presented Sandglass several times. Most notably, Bill collaborated with us on supporting and presenting The Story of the Dog, Sandglass’ collaboration with Sovanna Phum of Cambodia. Bill traveled with us to Phnom Penh to understand the scope of this wonderful project, and then co-wrote the Doris Duke Ensemble Theater grant that enabled us to finish this project and to bring it on tour to six northeastern stages. Bill also served on the Sandglass Theater board and was a model for board practices. When Bill retired from the Redfern, he joined us in the Sandglass office as tour coordinator for our national tours of D-Generation, an Exaltation of Larks. A few years ago, Bill sold his home in Dummerston and fully retired to San Pedro, Belize. He died there after a short illness, on November 23. We will miss him.
